OATS

Therapeutic Holiday Club

Our Therapeutic Holiday Club is the perfect opportunity to receive an intensive block of therapy to develop skills in many different areas, all whilst having fun with animals and sharing time with like-minded people.

About

Having worked in schools for the majority of our careers, we are well-aware of the benefits that daily, regular, consistent contact with our young people can have.

Not only can trusting relationships develop much more quickly, but we also have more time to observe and assess underlying barriers and challenges to participation in daily activities.

When trusting relationships are more firmly established, we can encourage our young people to challenge themselves and extend their boundaries, in a nurturing environment.

A therapeutic holiday club gives us the opportunity to make a big impact quickly. It enables us to support our young people to identify areas of development that are meaningful and purposeful to them, and work towards these with confidence, in a supportive, trusting group.

Who is this for?

This Therapeutic Holiday Club is designed for young people between the ages of 8 - 16 years old, who present with any of the following:

  • Anxiety/Low Self-Confidence

  • Autism

  • ADHD

  • Social Communication Challenges

  • School Phobia / Avoidance

  • Mild Learning Difficulties

  • Mild to Moderate Mental Health Needs

  • Other developmental disorders or needs that affects their ability to participate in daily activities

With a maximum of 8 young people, our groups are designed to be small, which ensures we are able to meet everyone's needs and tailor activities to be individualised and effective.

As well as being run by two specialist, highly experienced Occupational Therapists, we are supported by a wonderful team of Occupational Therapy Students, who bring a wealth of innovative ideas and activities, alongside a passion and dedication to work with our young people.

At OATS Therapeutic Holiday Club, we aim to:

  • Build emotional-regulation and self-regulation strategies

  • Develop group-work skills within a special interest community

  • Learn positive self-talk and mindfulness tools

  • Increase self-esteem and self-confidence

  • Develop self-acceptance and self-love

  • With many more skills being targeted along the way

Due to the nature of our activities and our rural environment, we are unfortunately unable to support anyone who:

  • Has a history of absconding

  • Displays challenging behaviours that can cause harm to themselves and others

  • Has a history of harming animals

  • Has complex multiple learning disabilities

If your young person presents with any of the above, please contact us to enquire about our 1:1 sessions, which may be more suitable to meet their needs.

All attendees must be able to engage in activities safely.
